Simple Ways to Make Mom Life Less Hectic

by - September 04, 2020

I will not lie being a mom has been one of the most challenging but oh so rewarding things I have experienced in my life. It has thrown me for so many loops, I have second-guessed myself more in this season of motherhood; especially being a mom to young kids than any other season of my life. The days can be quite hectic and very unpredictable, and because of that, I know it can make things get a little overwhelming. Here are a few ways to ease the stress off yourself and make things less hectic.

  • Focus on the fun and laughter: Having little kids some days can get very chaotic. I feel like I am flying by the seat of my pants, but being able to enjoy the various moments of joy and laughter throughout the day makes up for all those hectic times.
  • Stop trying to be in control of every detail: This is one I know I struggle with, am so used to doing it all I tend to put so much more burden on myself rather than just letting it go or asking someone else to step in and help me.
  • It is OK to say no! I know as moms, our world and heart feel like we have to be on for everyone, and we need to figure out a way to do it all, but that ends up burning you out. I know for me I still struggle very much with this might be the people, pleaser, in me.
  • Ask for help, and stop letting mommy guilt feel like you have to do it all yourself. Mommy guilt is a myth, makes us feel like the decisions we make for ourselves are selfish. But asking for help to either get a break for yourself or to get an extra set of hands is not a bad thing.
  • Take care of yourself! The moment my husband sat me down the other day and said he was going buy me a facial because he noticed I have been doing so much for the girls that I am not doing for myself. That was the moment I knew I need to start pouring back into myself.

There is a saying that "you can't pour out of an empty barrel" most of us moms needs to carry this saying with us at every point of our motherhood journey. It's easy to do for our kids and family and put them at the forefront, but eventually, it will wear you down. You will even start to feel resentful (I have been there!). I would love to know; what is something you do to make mom life less stressful?
